Gas Safety Interlocks

Safety interlocks

To conform to IGEM standards all process plant shall incorporate fan pressure switches and over temperature stats.

It is critical to ensure safe operation that all paint finishing plant have these safety interlocks and are tested on a regular basis.

It is a common occurrence to see old process plants have insufficient protection over the gas appliance. Our engineers are trained to install these safety interlocks, ensuring your plant operates safety in the event of process malfunction.

Why do spray booths and ovens need over temperature protection?

Over temperature protection (also known as high limit stats) are crucial safety interlocks designed to shut off gas appliances in the event of excessive heat, preventing damage to the equipment and ensuring plant safety.

To comply with IGEM/UP/12 Standards, over temperature stats must be independent devices featuring a manual reset and an audible alarm to alert operators of any fault when unsafe temperatures are detected. The temperature sensor should be positioned near the heat source to ensure a quick response in the event of component failure or sudden changes within the plant.

Why do spray booths and ovens require fan pressure switches?

A pressure switch is a vital safety device that is activated by a drop in pressure/airflow. It plays a key role in controlling the supply and cut-off of electrical signals to an appliance based on whether the pressure generated by the fan is adequate.

IGEM/UP/12 states pressure switches should come equipped with a manual reset feature and an audible alarm to alert plant operators in the event of fan or pressure failure.
